DISASTER RELIEF: HURRICANE HARVEY

When Hurricane Harvey made landfall on August 25, 2017, Mission U-Too had already started gearing up to provide disaster relief to the communities in our area. The devastation it caused was greater than we could have imagined.

We need your help to continue to serve during this time of disaster. Volunteers and donations are greatly appreciated. You can donate directly on this page or fill out our volunteer form if you are able to serve in that capacity.

We will continue to keep you updated and post more details on this page as they develop. Thank you for your support.

UPDATE:
Monday, September 11, 2017 // 6:30 PM

Since our disaster relief teams will be out serving for a while, we have created a list of supplies that are ongoing needs. Items like cleaning supplies, gloves, seasonings. These are items we seem to run out of on a regular basis and can never seem to have enough.

Please view our list here.

Calvary Baptist Church has graciously agreed to be our supply drop off center. Feel free to bring the items inside if it is during their office hours, M-F 9:00am-3:00pm. They also have an after-hours drop off location outside of their church, between their existing building and new addition. Please mark items for Mission U-Too.

UPDATE:
Saturday, September 2, 2017 // 5:15 PM

Our SE Texas team has made it to the area, and after scouting out several locations and assessing the needs, we have identified Bloomington, TX as where we are going to set up to serve.

We met with their county commissioner and he was amazed that we want to be there to serve their community. He also that Bloomington is the most economically and socially depressed out of all of their county. Keith, our SE Texas team lead said, “God leads us where we need to be!”

VOLUNTEERS ARE VERY NEEDED at this time to head down to Bloomington (about 10 miles SE of Victoria) to bring supplies (as the options there are very limited) and to serve. If you can go, please fill out our online volunteer form.

UPDATE:
Friday, September 1, 2017 // 11:00 AM

Our teams are set up and are continuing to serve/head out to the follow places. There are still details to be worked out, but we need volunteers. Please click the button below to let us know your availability and we will be in contact with you about serving.

If you have any of these items to donate, or can go purchase one and get it to our team ASAP in Bastrop, please email info@missionutoo.org or call 1-888-511-7173 to coordinate.

Otherwise your financial donations are greatly appreciated. If you can donate money for us to purchase equipment, simply make a note in the comments on the donation form that your donation is for ‘disaster relief equipment.’ Please note that the cost of the items below is approximate.

UPDATE:
Tuesday, August 29, 2017 // 2:30 PM

Right now, a few people from our team are in the Houston area to help with evacuations. Here are a few ways you can help Mission U-Too with evacuations.

  • Bring your boat to the I-10 & Barker Cypress area. You will have to go through barricades manned by police, they will gladly let you by when you tell them what you’re doing and who you’re with.
  • Other areas that need evacuations are south of I-10 all the way to Sugarland, and the I-45/1960 area.
  • Aluminum boats with 20+hp engines are ideal.
  • Jet skis can be helpful as well.
  • If you would be willing to let Mission U-Too use your boat or jet skis please get a hold of Jonah or Jason.
  • Keep praying. For the flood victims and especially those that have not been rescued yet. Also, keep our team and their safety in your prayers.
  • DONATE. This is huge right now. Please know that anything you can give will be put to good use serving Hurricane Harvey’s victims.
UPDATE:
Tuesday, August 29, 2017 // 12:30 PM

Our team made it down the to Houston area last night and this morning, and have been assessing the damage and where Mission U-Too can help.

The needs are coming. And there will be lots of opportunities for serving food, as well as meeting other needs.

With that being said, we are in desperate NEED OF DONATIONS. If we do not have the funds, we won’t be able to serve our friends and neighbors affected by this disaster.

Again, 100% of the donations received on this disaster relief page in the donation form above will go directly to help victims of Harvey.

We are planning to start serving in Giddings at the evacuation shelter this evening, and most likely in La Grange soon. There is also the chance we will also be heading into the Houston area, but at this time since the disaster is still in progress is hard to know exactly what that will look like.

Because of our already dedicated weekly volunteer team we are set on volunteers right now, but NEED your financial donations in order to purchase food and the supplies we need to serve the victims of this devastating disaster.

Please share this with your friends and family, and please give today. We thank you for your prayers and support.

UPDATE:
Monday, August 28, 2017 // 7:00 PM

Our team has spent the past couple of days serving at the evacuation shelter for the Bastrop County area flood evacuees. It looks like most of the Bastrop County evacuees will be allowed back into their homes soon, if not already, so the shelter will be closing soon and most likely our team will be wrapping up our services there.

Right now we have a small team headed to assess the situations in La Grange and the Katy area that have been hit hard by this disaster to see if/where we can help those areas. We will be keeping you posted in the next day or two about our plans and what help we will need at that time.

In the meantime, your prayers for the safety of our team and the victims of the flooding, as well as your financial support are greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:
Sunday, August 27, 2017 // 1:30 PM

Please be in prayer for the whole region as we are experiencing catastrophic flooding throughout Southeast Texas and here in Bastrop County.

It is very important for everyone to stay off the road and out of harms way right now. There is still a very high risk for flooding and everyone’s safety is a top priority.

With that said, we are working on assessing the situation and preparing to jump in where we can. Right now, we have a small team providing food and a listening ear at the Smithville shelter for those who have been evacuated in the Bastrop area. We will continue to provide support as long as it is needed. As for other areas, we will continue to monitor where we might be needed, but, again, right now everyone’s safety is a priority.

Currently, the biggest need is for donations. We have provided a donation form on this page that will be 100% designated to Mission U-Too’s disaster relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey victims.

For the latest in evacuations and other information in the Bastrop area, please follow Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management for the most up-to-date information.

If you are interested in helping please email us at info@missionutoo.org and we will have someone reach out to you to coordinate.
